Ultimately, convey the message.
Data Visualization and Storytelling (DVS) taught me how important a good visualization is for all kinds of audience. It showed me how impactful it is to have both skills of visualization and storytelling side-by-side to influence people. It is a skill that is really beneficial to strategic decision making of businesses. It provides a clearer picture of what has happened, what is happening and what should be done. There are many insights that can be gathered in a dataset, you just have to look at it in all angles then create the visuals and story of what the data wants to say.
DVS also emphasized that you must connect to your audience. It should be relatable and easy to understand. People or humans are naturally visual that they appreciate a story when it is told with images. We must be wary of the disabilities of some like those that are color blind and avoid using green and blue. If our audience are not that knowledgeable of the topic, adjust your story and avoid terminologies that may be jargons for them.
On how you would tell a story and designing your presentation is only limited to your imagination and will depend on the type of audience you have. There are a lot of tools or software to create your presentation form excel, powerpoint to the more sophisticated ones like tableau and gephi. It does not need to be the grandest presentation but as long as you were able to convey your message to the audience is what is important.
