I was invited as a plenary speaker at the 2024 Deans and Directors Meeting of the Global Network for Advanced Management. In this session, I gave a practical talk on the future of business education with artificial intelligence.
At the 2024 AACSB ICAM, joining a distinguished plenary panel alongside Asian Institute of Management President and Dean Jikyeong Kang, Dean Saïd Business School, University of Oxford Soumitra Dutta, C. T. Bauer College of Business (University of Houston) Dean Paul A. Pavlou to discuss AI in business education—whether it’s a threat or an opportunity—brought me back to 2018 ICAM in Hawaii. That year, Balaji Padmanabhan and I urged business schools to reimagine not just their curricula but all aspects of their operations and offerings in light of Data Science and AI (DSAI). At that time, fewer than 20% of top businesses saw AI’s significant impact.
Now, DSAI is indispensable, and the shift is evident. At AIM, we have integrated AI, sustainability, and ethics into everything we do, from teaching (all curricula have them embedded) to administration. This holistic approach equips our leaders to responsibly handle AI’s complexities.
As the educational landscape continues to evolve, it’s clear that we, as educators and business education leaders, must keep advancing our skills and deepening our insights into these transformative technologies. That way, we can better contribute to shaping policy and guiding the use of AI in education.
